Often I'm helping leaders shape a presentation in which they know it's a serious issue with serious consequences for the audience at large. Knowing there may be anxiety and disagreement associated with the issues, start by grounding the conversation in shared values or goals. This creates a common starting point, even if views diverge. Your tone - be clear, calm, and honest about the nature of the challenge, showing that you’ve considered multiple perspectives, not just your own. Acknowledge that disagreement is both natural and valuable, and invite it respectfully rather than fearing it. By creating space for open dialogue, you signal strength, not fragility. Do this well and you help turn potential dissent into meaningful engagement, thereby getting the transformation you wished for.
be remarkable (meetings)
Sometimes there's a lot of material you need to cover. When facing a meeting packed with information, clarity and structure are essential. Begin with a clear agenda and define what MUST be decided versus what can simply be noted or followed up later. Break the content into manageable sections, allowing time for questions and discussions, not just delivering the "stuff". Most importantly, guide the group with discipline and pace — helping them focus not just on what’s being said, but on what truly matters. After all...that IS all that matters!
be remarkable (in an interview)
In pretty much every job you go for, there'll be areas in which your experience isn't at the max. In an interview, don’t hide those gaps, frame them as areas you’re eager to grow into, not reasons to doubt your value. Instead focus on the strengths and experiences you do bring. Connect them clearly to what the role needs and demonstrate this through story. Show curiosity, humility, and a mindset that embraces learning. Confidence isn’t pretending you’re perfect; it’s showing you know your worth, even when you’re not 100% fully formed!
