be remarkable (presentations)

I'm often asked whether humour should be used in a presentation. I'd say, yes humour can be used, and can work really well. It can totally change the mood, but...only if it serves the message and suits the audience. When used well, it builds connection, boosts engagement, and makes you more likeable and your content more memorable. But forced or inappropriate humour can backfire big time, undermining your credibility or alienating listeners. In short it can be embarrassing and make the audience uncomfortable - one of the worst things possible. The golden rule: be relevant, be respectful, and if in doubt, leave it out."

be remarkable (meetings)

As a leader hosting a meeting, how do you make sure you involve everybody (let's face it, why are they even there if they're input isn't valued). I'd encourage you to Invite input early by asking open-ended questions and addressing people by name to draw them in. Create space for quieter voices by pausing after questions and actively encouraging different perspectives. The quiet ones may have the perfect contribution to make but feel awkward speaking out. Set the tone from the beginning and use quick check-ins or round-robin formats to ensure everyone has a moment to speak, even briefly. Do that and you change your organisations dynamic to one where everyone feels valued.

be remarkable (in an interview)

As many of you will know I hate same same! So, if you are interviewing someone for a top role think of a great question that really allows the responder to dig deep. One they may not have been asked before. So for example try asking, “If you could instantly master one skill unrelated to your job, what would it be and why?” It can catch people off guard in a good way of course. It reveals creativity, curiosity, and personality. Plus, it lightens the tone and can lead to a more human, memorable conversation. It may well make them smile, open up and that is your "in" - the opportunity to really discover what lies beneath.
